Contract value

In the context of a futures contract, the economic value of such a contract, which corresponds to the futures price times the contract size.

The contract value should not be confused with the futures price. For example, in the case of a wheat futures contract representing 5,000 bushels, if the futures price for delivery on a given date, priced in dollars per bushel, is $5, this corresponds to a contract value of $25,000 ($5 x 5,000).
